“Holding A Grudge Is Letting Someone Live Rent-Free In Your Head.”

Mistakes are always forgivable, if one has the courage to admit them. - Bruce Lee

I am learning to understand rather than immediately judge or to be judged. I cannot blindly follow the crowd and accept their approach. I will not allow myself to indulge in the usual manipulating game of role creation. Fortunately for me, my self-knowledge has transcended that and I have come to understand that life is best to be lived and not to be conceptualized. I am happy because I am growing daily and I am honestly not knowing where the limit lies. To be certain, every day there can be a revelation or a new discovery. I treasure the memory of the past misfortunes. It has added more to my bank of fortitude. - Bruce Lee

"Many people dedicate their lives to actualizing a concept of what they should be like, rather than actualizing themselves. This difference between self-actualization and self-image actualization is very important. Most people live only for their image." - - - Bruce Lee

Esther Lederer: "Hanging onto resentment is letting someone you despise live rent-free in your head."

DNFTT -- Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience. -- DNFTT

Every day people are straying away from the church and going back to God. - Lenny Bruce

Bruce (Finding Nemo): [reciting] I am a nice shark, not a mindless eating machine. If I am to change this image, I must first change myself. Fish are friends, not food.

Bruce Banner: [in poor Portuguese] Don't make me...hungry. You wouldn't like me when I'm...hungry.

From Small Things (Big Things One Day Come) - Bruce Springsteen

Bruce Wayne: It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me. - I'm Batman

Bruce Nolan: [standing on the top of a skyscraper in a storm] I am Bruce Almighty! My will be done!

Bruce Nolan: Bruce giveth and Bruce taketh away. Don't like it? Megabyte me.

Bruce Nolan: B-E-A-utiful.

"If you want to take your mission in life to the next level, if you're stuck and you don't know how to rise, don't look outside yourself. Look inside. Don't let your fears keep you mired in the crowd. Abolish your fears and raise your commitment level to the point of no return, and I guarantee you that the Champion Within will burst forth to propel you toward victory." (... or you can marry a Kardashian and get a face-lift like he did.) - Bruce Jenner, 1976 Olympic Decathlon Gold Medalist

Robert the Bruce (from Braveheart): I don't want to lose heart! I want to believe as he does... I will never be on the wrong side again.
"For as long as one hundred of us shall remain alive, we shall never in any wise consent submit to the rule of the English, for it is not for glory we fight, nor riches, or for honour, but for freedom alone, which no good man loses but with his life." Robert The Bruce, King of the Scots, Declaration of Arbroath (April 6, 1320)

"A few years ago, when I was hitchhiking through Laramie, Wyoming, I met an old and infertile man named John. I told him, "I think I'd have made a good son, John. But I'd have made an even better Johnson." He nodded as he took a long drag from his cigarette before he said, "I think I would have made a good Robert Derrick. But I'd have made an even better Derrick Robert." I was silent for a few minutes, because I knew all too well what he meant. I've often felt I'd have made a great Bruce Robert, and an even better Robert the Bruce than Robert the Bruce ever was. Because, as many people have told me, "You can take all the Bruces in the world, including Mr. Willis, and you'd be the only one who could simply be called 'The Bruce.'" But you couldn't call me "The Boss," because that title belongs to another Bruce." ― Jarod Kintz, American Association for the Advancement of Aardvarks Presents: Dear Natalie

"I'm the Robert the Bruce of Bruces. I'm also the Robert the Bruce of Roberts. " ― Jarod Kintz, This Book Has No Title

Amongst the ragged Cleeves those monstrous giants sought: - Who (of their dreadful kind) t'appal the Trojans brought - Great Gogmagog, an oake that by the roots could teare; - So mighty were (that time) the men who lived there: - But, for the use of armes he did not understand - (Except some rock or tree, that coming next to land, - He raised out of the earth to execute his rage), - He challenge makes for strength, and offereth there his gage, - Which Corin taketh up, to answer by and by, - Upon this sonne of earth his utmost power to try. --- Michael Drayton's Poly-Olbion

Some people see things as they are and say why? I dream things that never were and say, why not?" - RFK/George Bernard Shaw

My theme song...

He's got the whole world in His hands
He's got the whole wide world in His hands
He's got the whole world in His hands
He's got the whole world in His hands
He's got the little bitty baby in His hands
He's got you and me sister in His hands

He's got you and me brother in His hands
He's got the whole world in His hands
He's got everybody here in His hands
He's got everybody here in His hands
He's got the whole wide world in His handsHe's got the whole world in His hands

Oh, and because I comment on politics quite a lot, which can quickly devolve a conversation into challenges to my patriotism, with really silly questions like: SO WHAT BRANCH OF THE MILITARY DID YOU SERVE IN?

I thought I would post that info here in my bio, just in case anyone else cares to know.

I served in the United States Army, during the Vietnam Era, my final duty station was at The Pentagon, in the Defense Communications Agency, Room BE685. (That's on the same side of the building that was hit by the airplane on 9/11/2001, but I was long gone from there by then.)

My father was career USAF, and served in the Army Air Corps during WWII fighting for freedom against the Nazis in the Battle of the Bulge.
My oldest son was a US NAVY, Submariner.
And, my youngest son and his wife are US MARINES. (Once a Marine, Always a Marine! Once in the Army is enough!)
Finally, as if it makes any difference at all, my Grandfather was one of the first to transfer from The United States Lifesaving Service to the then new United States Coast Guard! (I never knew my grandfather, but it's kind of cool to know this, and some other unique things, about him.)

Origin of the Christian Golden Rule:

But when the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered themselves together. One of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?"

And He said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the greatest and foremost commandment. The second is like it, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets."*
